As the questions are presented to the Swami, he holds them to his head, hums, waits awhile, picks up one piece of wood and bangs it on the table. Which block of wood do you think he uses? The only time we say NO is if it isn't legal. All others are a resounding "YES".
There always follows a great discussion to fill in the IF, BUT, and WHEN portion of the answer. The most popular question is, "Can I have time away on my own?" So, we follow the conditions, if your social worker gives written permission, when your chores and program are done, and if you have a plan where you are going, what you are doing, hours, etc.
Anyway, you get the idea. The main thing is that we get the opportunity to answer the question, "What is our job," and they get it that our job is their safety.
When all is finished, we present our huge basket full of every thing imaginable and let each participant take whatever one thing they want. We have had such a great time with this, and the children have a better grasp of the rules and how to get what they want.
