We drive a car to get where we want to go. We behave to match a picture in our Quality World. It really is that simple. Here we have a discussion on what we want, really want. We teach evaluation so that the children can look at what they were thinking, and how that motivated them to behave. Then we have a look at the consequences and if they match the picture or not. We can also evaluate what we could do that would get us what we want, and at what time could we have made a different choice that would have made things turn out better.
We do role plays in which the children act out their last conflict, and how a different thought might have created a different behavior, etc.
We also explore getting enough information before we choose a behavior based on our feelings. We go over the fact that all you can get in the world from your 5 senses is information - it is what you make of it that either meets your pictures of does not.
