I read at a very early age, and at age 6 I read 2 newspapers a day (except the sports and business pages.) My heroine was Eleanor Roosevelt. One day I read that she was visiting in a foreign country where they sacrificed little girls to their gods. I was so upset! I told God that if He sent me those little girls I would take care of them.
Jim was concerned that he didn't feel "called" to do anything special. From a young age he prayed for the "right" wife for him, and beyond that he really didn't have a clue what he was to do. He always learned whatever he had an opportunity to learn, and we often called him "a man of many talents". As we had our two children, he found much satisfaction in raising them together. As I began to care for children as a babysitter he discovered he was also good with other people's children. When we decided to become foster parents, he also discovered he enjoyed that experience. At the same time he had an opportunity to learn business management, and discovered he was also good at that. When the time came I added more homes, but it was very apparent that I was not good at business. It didn't take much time for us to see that he was called to take over the business end of our growing endeavor.
