Another part of our training has been asking "What" questions. We ask 'what' rather than 'why' questions because we want to establish a relationship with our children. We want information so that we can know them better and they can know us better. We ask, "What did you do?" or "What were you trying to get?" or even "What did you want?"
Whatever the answer, we don't take it personal, and we don't make judgments on it, We use it to build relationships. When we build relationships, we can mentor, teach, and comfort when needed.
